Maternal and infant mortality in U.S.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] - The U.S. is one of eight countries in the world whose maternal mortality ratio is on the rise. And of 27 wealthy countries, the U.S. has the highest rate of infant mortality. In "The alarming rise in maternal mortality in the US," Professor of Economics Emily Oster says home visits, access to health care, and mandatory maternity leave contribute to better infant mortality ratios in other countries.
