Native Americans shipped abroad as slaves

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] – The forced migration of Native Americans via slavery increased greatly following King Philip's War, says Associate Professor of History Linford Fisher in a recent study. In "Colonists shipped Native Americans abroad as slaves," Fisher notes the many New England Native Americans who were forced into slavery and often shipped to the Caribbean, including Natives who had surrendered during the war in order to avoid enslavement. Read more here.
