Carlo Medici
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Carlo Medici is an applied microeconomist specializing in labor economics, political economy, and economic history. His research leverages historical episodes and natural experiments to address contemporary questions related to immigration, labor market institutions, and public sector performance. This includes studying the determinants of organized labor’s formation and growth, as well as the economic consequences of immigration restrictions. Additionally, Carlo investigates the impact of political incentives and labor market policies on economic outcomes and the functioning of organizations, particularly within the public sector. He tackles these questions empirically, utilizing a diverse array of data sources such as administrative records, newly digitized archival datasets, and publicly available microdata.
Before joining Brown University, Carlo earned his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 2024. He also holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Bocconi University.
