A Summer at Brown experience goes way beyond the classroom

Outside of class, you will make friends, attend campus events and social activities, and have time for summer fun. Preparing for college success continues with Summer at Brown’s extensive co-curricular activity calendar – our workshops and presentations are designed to prepare you for the transition to college-level academics.

Throughout the summer, an extensive calendar of workshops, speakers and presentations are designed to prepare you for the transition to college-level academics. Academic events are free of charge, and topics are repeated throughout the summer.

Free social activities on campus include dances, movies, karaoke, talent shows, yoga, dance instruction, and much more. Residential Advisors also plan weekly activities for their floors designed to foster community and help students transition to college life.

Weekend Trips to Popular Destinations
Destinations include Boston, Newport, area beaches, shopping outlets and the RISD Museum. Students are responsible for food and admission tickets.

The BeU Lounge
The diversity programs held in the BeU lounge is a gateway that provides diversity and inclusion education, resources, tools and forums to pre-college students. We realize that our world’s demographics are rapidly changing. Therefore, Residential Advisors assigned to this option will facilitate Workshops and roundtable discussions to help students comfortably navigate the diverse world in which we live.

New England’s largest annual college fair - now in its 24th year. Meet recruiting and admissions representatives from more than 100 colleges, universities and conservatories.

Libraries, Writing Center and Computing Resources »

Libraries and Study Centers
Brown libraries and study centers are available for research, browsing or quiet study throughout the summer. Highlights include the John D. Rockefeller Library ("the Rock"), The Sciences Library and the Friedman Study Center, and the special collections at the John Hay Library.

Brown Writing Center
The Writing Center helps students choose and refine topics, and write organized, well supported, and eloquent essays. The Center offers summer hours especially for Brown Pre-College students.

Computing Labs
Locations across campus offer computers, scanners and printers.

Athletics and Recreation Summer Registration »

The Brown University Department of Athletics offers low-cost memberships to Pre-College students. Members have exclusive access to sports and fitness classes. More information »
