POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN ALCOHOL/HIV RESEARCH

Brown University’s Alcohol Research Center on HIV (ARCH) based at the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies, is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (100% FTE for a 2-year appointment), to participate in alcohol and HIV research training, with a focus on intervention development for reducing alcohol and sexual risk behaviors, increasing adherence to antiretroviral therapy, and reducing risk for HIV-associated comorbidities and mortality. The NIAAA-funded ARCH supports collaborative research to develop scalable alcohol-HIV interventions, including video counseling, telehealth, and web-enabled applications, that can be delivered broadly and efficiently using centralized personnel and technological resources.
Responsibilities: The Postdoctoral Research Associate will devote half-time effort contributing to ongoing research in the Center. Activities may include assisting with data analysis, interpretation of findings, and preparation of scholarly products for dissemination, including submitting and presenting conference presentations at scientific meetings and drafting manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications. Remaining effort will be devoted to training activities including structured didactic seminars and mentored grant writing instruction. Faculty mentors include Brown ARCH faculty members Drs. Christopher Kahler, Peter Monti, and Tyler Wray, with potential secondary mentorship available from Drs. Rani Elwy and Tao Liu at Brown, and ARCH faculty at collaborating institutions including Drs. Sara Becker and Caroline Kuo. The commitment for the position is 2 years.

Eligibility: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in behavioral and social sciences or a related field in public health. The successful candidate will have a) demonstrated interest in alcohol and HIV research; b) experience conducting statistical analysis; c) content knowledge in alcohol, HIV, and/or technology-based intervention research; d) experience writing peer-reviewed publications; and e) strong writing skills. Salary: Salary is commensurate with NIH stipend amounts and include a competitive full-time benefits package. Start date: June 1 to August 1, 2023.
