The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences brings events to Brown that are aligned with the themes and core research areas of the Department—alcohol and other drug abuse; smoking and tobacco use; obesity, nutrition, and physical activity; HIV and sexually transmitted infections; behavioral medicine; and health disparities and culture—and that examine interventions aimed at changing behaviors and improving social contexts related to public health.

BSS Research Innovations and Networking Series (RINS) lectures provide faculty and students with an opportunity to hear about the latest developments in behavioral and social sciences research, with a particular emphasis on sharing innovative methods and creating opportunities for new collaborations within the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences and outside it.

BSS also sponsors other events throughout the year in support of our Mission or to benefit our Graduate Program and its students.
