Wentao (Samuel) Guan received his ScM in Biostatistics in May 2015. While completing his degree, Samuel worked with Dr. Roland Merchant as a Research Apprentice at Rhode Island Hospital. Samuel worked with Dr. Merchant and his colleagues on his BIDMED study supported by a NIDA R01 grant and Lifespan/Tufts/Brown CFAR. This work resulted in a recently published paper entitled “Evaluation of a brief intervention to reduce the negative consequences of drug misuse among adult emergency department patients.” The article is published in Drug and Alcohol Dependence. Assistant Professor (Research), Tao Liu, was Samuel’s academic advisor and is also an author on this paper in addition to Dr. Merchant, his colleagues and Samuel. Samuel recently secured a position with Abbott Lab as a Statistician in North Chicago, IL.
Mengqi (Maggie) Jin, received her ScM in Biostatistics in May 2015. She worked as a Data Scientist with New York-Presbyterian Hospital since January 2015. She recently secured a position as Data Scientist with Novantas in New York City. Maggie will be visiting the Department later this month to share with our current students her experiences after Brown and her role as a Data Scientist
