It is with a great deal of appreciation and gratitude that we acknowledge the 22 years of passion, leadership, and vision of Henry Ledyard Goddard Professor of Biostatistics, Dr. Constantine Gatsonis, as he steps down as Chair of the Department of Biostatistics.  While he remains a crucial member of the Department and its faculty as well as the Director of the Center of Statistical Sciences, we must acknowledge him as the forefounder of Biostatistics at Brown University and the pivitol role he played in the establishment of the School of Public Health.

Professor Joseph Hogan, ScD, who was Dr. Gatsonis's first faculty hire, will succeed Dr. Gatsonis as Chair, effective 1 July 2017.  Professor Hogan joined Brown in 1995 and has been an instrumental part of the growth and international expertise for which the Department is recognized.  We are very excited that Professor Joe Hogan will lead the Department into the future of biostatistics and health data science.
