1st-year Ph.D. student Esteban Fernández awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

Congratulations to 1st-year Ph.D. Biostatistics student Esteban Fernández, who has been selected to receive funding for graduate study under the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program! This five year fellowship recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in STEM disciplines. During the fellowship, Esteban will investigate the causal spillover effect of policy interventions using synthetic control methods. He plans to develop a novel Bayesian structural time-series method for multiple synthetic controls and apply the proposed method to the marijuana legalization study.
