Ginsberg Aging Research Fund

Irwin E. and Barbara Ginsberg P’84 Aging Research Fund

The Irwin E. Ginsberg P’84 Aging Research Fund was established as a part of the Brown University permanent endowment. This Fund provides support for medical or public health student projects related to aging and mentored by School of Public Health faculty, e.g., faculty affiliated with the Center for Gerontology & Healthcare Research or the Center for Long-Term Care Quality & Innovation.  Applicants may either submit a request to help identify an appropriate mentor while developing their application or independently identify a mentor and include that information with their application.

Application: A one-page proposal that includes needs, objectives, anticipated expenses and a named mentor or request for a mentor should be sent to the Attention of: Theresa Shireman, Director, Center for Gerontology & Health Care Research via [email protected].

Period of Performance: Summer 8-10 weeks session: can be either June 1 through July 31 or July 1 through August 31. Work can be completed in-person (pending the pandemic status) or virtually in summer 2022.
Funding includes:

  • A 2-month summer stipend will be paid to the student. Applicants may also request support to register for and attend a conference, including travel, if presenting their project results.

Through this internship, applicants will:

  • Gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in academic research
  • Develop an abstract for a scientific meeting

Deadline for Summer 2022: Applications must be received by March 18, 2022.
