  • Joshua Freeman - a Global Health Scholar in the MPH degree program. Mr Freeman conducted research on family influences on infant feeding pattens in American Samoa in the summer of 2013 with a mixed methods study of fathers' roles.  His mentors were Prof McGarvey and Dr Nicola Hawley of the Diabetes and Weight Control Research Center.
  • Maya Balamane - a Global Health Scholar in the MPH degree program. Ms Balamane conducted research on immunological monitoring and CD4 dynamics in patients treated with 2nd line antiretroviral therapy in western Kenya conducting a chart review in 2013 followed by multivariable statistical analyses to improve prediction of failure. Her mentors were Dr Rami Kantor of the Miriam Hospital and Mark Lurie of the Department of Epidemiology and IHI.
  • Shuo Huang - a Global Health Scholar in the MPH degree program. Mr Huangwas in American Samoa the summer  of 2013 to collect detailed health care system treatment cost data as part of a cost-effectiveness analysis of a community health worker behavioral intervention to improve diabetes control. His mentors were Prof McGarvey and Prof Galarraga.
