The Impact of COVID-19’s Closure of Meal Sites on Older Adults

We know that older adults are at increased risk of becoming seriously ill from COVID-19, but, writes Professor Kali Thomas and graduate student Emma Tucher, we cannot forget the epidemic’s effects on their basic needs. COVID-19 has led to the restricted access and closing of senior centers and churches, many of which offer group meals through a large federal–state nutrition program for older adults.
