The Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research is a nationally prominent research center that studies the diverse health and social service needs of elderly and other persons with chronic illnesses.
Since the early 1980's, center faculty members have had substantial success in securing funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the Health Care Financing Administration, as well as from numerous philanthropic foundations. The research findings of center faculty have, as intended, figured prominently over the years as valuable guides for government agencies making decisions regarding policy aimed at improving health and health care for our aging and disabled populations. Initiating new lines of research on previously unstudied or understudied populations is a hallmark of the center work.
The Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research is located on the campus of Brown University in the city of Providence, Rhode Island and is the administrative home of the Center for Long-Term Care Quality & Innovation.
