Lunch Talk: “HIV/AIDS, Queer Activism, and the Public History of Everyday Life”

John Nicholas Brown Center for Public Humanities & Cultural Heritage
, Lecture Room

Stephen Vider, Assistant Professor of History and Director of the Public History Initiative, Cornell University (Ithaca, NY).

Histories of HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ communities have often focused on public and commercial spaces as the principal sites of queer activism. In this talk, Vider will discuss how he works to trace and reconsider more private histories of everyday queer life in his research and curatorial work. He will also discuss how he has applied these approaches in developing the new Public History Initiative at Cornell.
