As an educational program designer, I have been working on involving citizens, especially youngsters, into museum experience. Prior to Brown, I studied cultural industry management in China and it provided me with a strong foundation in the related theories as diverse heritages and cultural policies. In my junior year, I was elected to the Columbia University visiting student program and spent half a year in NYC. By making field trips to the MET on a monthly basis, I had a clearer view of how public engagement develops in U.S. museums. After that, I took on internships at Guangdong Museum and Guangzhou Opera House and had a chance to experiment my thoughts in reality. At Brown, I hope to gain more theoretical and practical training in cultural programming, as well as explore more aspects of arts and cultural institutions and other nonprofit sectors.
