Please join us on Thursday, October 13, at 6:00 pm in the Granoff Center's Martinos Auditorium for the next How Structural Racism Works lecture, "Industrialized Punishment," presented by Ruth Wilson Gilmore, director, Center for Place, Culture, and Politics and professor of geography in earth and environmental sciences, City University of New York.

The lecture will focus on mass incarceration and how it is a massively public, state-building project that both depends on and expands structural racism. The lecture will examine how and why the criminal justice system produced 25% of the plant's prison-and-jail population, and consider, "What is to be done?". The lecture will be followed by a Q&A discussion moderated by Professor Tricia Rose, director, Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America. A reception will follow.

Doors open at 5:30 pm and this event is free and open to the public. The lecture will be simulcast in Granoff Center, Studio 1.
