HUGs + STEM Lunchtime Conversation: Lisa Gelobter, The White House/Chief Digital Service Officer at the U.S. Department of Education

CSREA is delighted to host a luncheon for the Department of Computer Science's guest speaker, Lisa Gelobter, tech/digital pioneer in media and education. Ms. Gelobter was a Brown graduate and Computer Science concentrator and is looking forward to her return to campus.

On Friday, March 3rd, Ms. Gelobter will be at CSREA between 11:30am-1:00pm for an informal lunchtime conversation about women and people of color in STEM industries. What are the opportunities? What are the visible and invisible barriers and hurdles? What are some good strategies for leveling the playing field in the ever expanding and influential STEM industries?

Lisa Gelobter works for the White House, in the United States Digital Service. She is currently serving as the Chief Digital Service Officer with the US Department of Education. Over the course of her career, Lisa has been integrally involved with the advent of several pioneering internet technologies, including Shockwave, the genesis of animation on the web, and the emergence of online video. Previously, Lisa acted as the Chief Digital Officer for BET Networks and was also a member of the senior management team for the launch of Hulu. Through the convergence of media and technology, Lisa has been fortunate enough to have had an impact on how, where, and when media is consumed and she is now bringing that consumer focus and transformative practice to bear in government.
