This event brings together Dr. Adriana Zavala PhD’01, director of the U.S. Latinx Art Forum and Associate Professor at Tufts University, and award-winning artist Firelei Báez to discuss race and gender in Latinx art with a focus on Baez’s interventions. The conversation will reflect on both historical and speculative frameworks in discussion of blackness, femme gesture, and cultural production.

Introduction by Leticia Alvarado, Assistant Professor of American Studies, Brown University.
