Research Seminar with Richard Rothstein, “Journalism and History: Describing ‘The Color of Law’”

, Room 103

We invite students and faculty to sit down for an informal conversation with Richard Rothstein of the Economic Policy Institute to learn more about the research process for his book, The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America. This workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of scholars by introducing participants to the author’s methods and experiences.

RSVP: [email protected]. Refreshments will be provided.

Richard Rothstein will also be giving a public lecture on The Color of Law on January 24 at 12pm in Petteruti Lounge. Further event details can be found here. The book recovers a forgotten history of how federal, state, and local policy explicitly segregated metropolitan areas nationwide, creating racially homogenous neighborhoods in patterns that violate the Constitution and require remediation.
