The Syriac Symposium will welcome you with registraton and a reception on Sunday, June 16 from 3:00-5:00pm, with the official program starting at 5:00pm.  We will conclude on Wednesday, June 19 at 12:30pm.  Your registration fee covers all Symposium events, coffee/tea/refreshments, and dinners on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings.  Our venues at Brown University are located a short distance from the Thayer Street business district, a colorful area of cafes, shops, and eateries with lots of options for breakfast and lunch at good prices.

Registration rates are $150 regular/$75 for graduate students, retirees, and independent scholars.  These rates will hold until May 20.  After that date, they will increase to $175/$85.  We encourage your early registration to be sure we have accurate counts for food and event planning.

In addition to the basic registration fee there are three optional add ons:

  • Optional Boxed Lunch 1: Monday, June 17, 12:15-1:15pm ($15)
Orientation to the new Digital Syriac Corpus: learn how to use and contribute to this important resource.

  • Optional Boxed Lunch 2: Tuesday, June 18, 12:15-1:15pm ($15)
Women in Syriac Studies Lunch: Panel and Discussion
How can we increase the number of women in the field of Syriac Studies? How do we encourage women to enter the field, and how do we support them to stay?  Equitable selection and hiring practices, successful mentoring strategies, and the unique challenges women face in academia more broadly, will be among the topics.  Men and women are welcome.  We look forward to a fruitful conversation.
Presider: Dina Boero, The College of New Jersey
Panel Participants: Robin Darling Young, The Catholic University of America; Kevin van Bladel,
Yale University; Jeanne-Nicole Mellon Saint-Laurent, Marquette University; and Erin Galgay
            Walsh, Duke University
  • Optional Boxed Lunch 3: Wednesday, June 19, following closing session ($15)

*Note, you may attend either the session on the Digital Syriac Corpus or Women in Syriac Studies without pre-ordering a lunch, and instead bring your own.

If you are planning on staying in the dorms ($60 per night), you will also register through the registration application.
