James Morone Named Director of the Taubman Center

James Morone, the John Hazen White Professor of Public Policy and professor of political science and urban studies, has been appointed director of the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Public Policy and American Institutions. Morone will succeed Marion Orr, the Frederick Lippitt Professor of Public Policy and professor of political science and urban studies, who has directed the Taubman Center since July 2008. Morone begins his new position on July 1.

Statewide Poll: Raimondo and Taveras Tied in Gubernatorial Democratic Primary

A new statewide public opinion survey conducted by the Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University finds that State Treasurer Gina Raimondo and Providence Mayor Angel Taveras are currently in a statistical tie for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination. However, one-third of likely Democratic voters are undecided five months before the Democratic primary.

Taubman Center Director Marion Orr Moderates Mayoral Debate

Marion Orr, director of the Taubman Center, moderated a Providence mayoral forum on March 31, 2014 hosted by the Rhode Island Black Business Association. Four Democrats, Lorne Adrain, Jorge Elorza, Brett Smiley and Michael Solomon, participated, along with Daniel Harrop, a Republican.

Capstone 2014: From Bangladesh to the White House and Back to Rhode Island

The Taubman Center's master's class of 2014 will be the first to complete a two-semester capstone. Students are clearly benefiting from the extra time to develop and define their capstone projects. Students had a “full immersion experience,” during the fall semester as they worked closely with clients to define the scope of their work, says Taubman professor and capstone coordinator Bill Allen.
