Daniel Ruppel

Dan RuppelDan RuppelDan Ruppel is a Doctoral Candidate at Brown University in Providence RI and the 2016-7 J.B. Stuart Fellow at the John Carter Brown Library.  His work examines the impact of performance documentation on political projects (and cartographic projections) in 16th Century France, focusing on printed "festival books" and the plethora of documents that imitate them.   HIs interdisciplinary and multi-modal research has put him into conversations with scholars ranging from Performance Studies to Comparative Literature, from to Art History to History of the Book, while his performative experiments have taken him to the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, the Theatre de l'Opprim√© in Paris, and a variety of venues in the US and Canada.
