Brown University's Kiss Of the Spider Woman
Friday-Sunday: Delve into the powerful story of the theatrical performance of Kiss of the Spider Woman as presented by Brown University’s Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies and Sock & Busk. Kiss of the Spider Woman was written by John Kander and Fred Ebb and won the 1993 Tony Award for Best Musical. Based on the novel El Beso de la Mujer Arana by Manuel Puig, the play embraces themes of gender, homosexuality, torture, human rights and fantasy. The two central characters Molina and Valentin fight to survive their imprisonment in an abysmal Brazilian prison while striving to find solace in their friendship and fantasy. 77 Waterman St, Providence, (401) 863-2838. 8pm Friday and Saturday, 2pm Sunday.
