Collection Overview Photography

The photography collection numbers more than two thousand images. Containing only a few nineteenth-century works, the collection focuses primarily on documentary and straight photography from the 1930s to the present and includes strong holdings of works by Berenice Abbott, Walker Evans, Louis Faurer, Harry Callahan, Aaron Siskind, Elliott Erwitt, Garry Winogrand, and Danny Lyon. Other notable collections include 53 works by Margaret Bourke-White from the Time-Life Archive and 150 images by Andy Warhol from the artist’s estate. Contemporary photography is represented by Larry Sultan, Todd Hido, Simen Johan, Wafaa Bilal, William Wylie, Melissa Ann Pinney and others.
