Ogden Lecture Series

The Stephen A. Ogden, Jr. ’60 Lecture on International Affairs is the University’s oldest and most prestigious foreign affairs lecture series. The lectureship honors Stephen A. Ogden Jr., a member of the Class of 1960, who wanted to advance the cause of world peace and through a career in international relations.  Since the inaugural Ogden lecture in 1965, Brown has welcomed many heads of state, senior elected officials, career diplomats and other policy makers and close observers of the international arena.

An entrepreneur, activist, politician, and philanthropist, Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda is Former President of the Republic of Malawi, having ruled Malawi from 2012 -2014. She is Malawi’s first female president and Africa’s second.  Voted as Africa's most powerful woman by Forbes magazine for two years running and voted as one of the most powerful women in the world, Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda is a champion for the rights of women, children, and the disabled and other marginalized groups.
