An evening of festive performances featuring artists from Brown, Providence and Rhode Island. Tickets are free and required.

Master of Ceremonies: Kate Burton

Internationally acclaimed actress of stage and screen and Brown alumna Kate Burton will serve as the evening's host. Artistic direction provided by Trinity Repertory Company and Brown Trinity MFA students.

  • What Cheer? Brigade, the notorious 19-piece brass band from Providence known for their signature sound
  • Brown University Jazz Band, under the direction of Matthew McGarrell
  • Word!, Brown’s spoken word/performance poetry group
  • Christopher Johnson, award-winning Providence poet 
  • Ghanaian Drumming and Dance Ensemble, under the direction of Martin Kwaku Kwaakye Obeng
  • Jaime Rosenstein ’10, MFA ‘13, a student in the Brown/Trinity MFA program, performs "Something’s Coming" by Leonard Bernstein
  • Badmaash Dance Company, Brown's South Asian Fusion dance team
  • Brown University/Trinity Repertory Company MFA students

About Host Kate Burton:

Kate Burton was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2009. She is a 1979 Brown graduate. An actress and labor activist, her work on Broadway includes Hedda Gabler, The Elephant Man, The Constant Wife (all Tony nominated), and Spring Awakening. On television: Ellis Grey/Grey’s Anatomy (Emmy nominated), Cindy Whiting in HBO’s Empire Falls, The Good Wife, The West Wing, The Practice, Law & Order, Rescue Me, Veep, Scandal, and Grimm. Films: Unfaithful, Ice Storm, Celebrity, Big Trouble in Little China, Max Payne, Sherry Baby, Swimfan, What Just Happened, Remember Me, 127 Hours, Liberal Arts, Barefoot and 2 Days in NY. Burton has just completed her 15th year as a councillor at Actor's Equity Association and actively worked towards the merging of SAG and AFTRA. She is a trustee of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the Williamstown Theater Festival, and the American Theater Wing, and a member of the Leadership Council at the Yale School of Drama. At Brown, Kate has served on the Creative Arts Council, and continuously works with the Theater Arts students in both the Undergraduate and MFA programs. She received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree in May 2007 from Brown.
