Leading up to 2014, the Undergraduate Council of Students (UCS), Undergraduate Finance Board (UFB) and Student Activities Office (SAO) collaborated on funding, research and testing of student organization software. They determined shared responsibilities for a more integrative student organization member experience and at the turn of the New Year launched BearSync to replace MyGroups.
What is BearSync?
BearSync, powered by OrgSync, is the official record system for student organizations that fall under the Undergraduate Council of Students (UCS) and Graduate Student Council (GSC). It also includes a list of Greek and Program Houses, which are advised by Residential Life.*
BearSync allows Brown community members to search for and browse through hundreds of profiles of student organizations on campus.
UCS, GSC, and Greek/Progam House organization members use BearSync to register events, review budgets and connect with staff advisors. News feed and messaging features keep members up-to-date with the Student Activities Office to help their organizations thrive at Brown.
- Please refer to Brown Recreation for more information regarding intramural and club sport recognition status and appropriate academic departments for departmental organizations not listed on BearSync.
- Departmental organizations must state the department that sponsors them in the submission to [email protected] etc. in order to be approved.
