Appointments at Health Services
If you have a preference as to the gender of the person who examines and treats you, or if you feel more comfortable having a chaperone in the room, please tell the team assistant when you make an appointment. We will do our best to accommodate your wishes.
|Sexual Assault Resources||Confidential crisis support and information.
|Nursing Advice||A nurse is available for medical advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer your question or give advice on what you should do.||401-863-1330
|Illness, Injury and Problem Visits||You can usually be seen on the day that you contact us, or at a time convenient for you.|
|Physicals||Age specific screenings or exams (for electives or employment) that may require a form to be completed by a medical provider.|
|Birth Control and Gynecological Care||Contraceptive and gynecological care.
|Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Screening and HIV Testing||Screening tests for STIs, and free oral HIV testing.|
|Injections and Immunizations||Vaccines required for Brown University and the State of Rhode Island, allergy injections, travel immunizations.
|Travel Services||Immunizations, medications and health assessments you may need before leaving the United States for travel or study abroad.|
|Dermatology Clinic||A consulting dermatologist holds weekly clinics during the academic year by referral from a Health Services provider.
Appointments focus on improving nutritional health, sports nutrition weight management and disordered eating.
|Laboratory||For lab tests not covered by your Health Services fee, specimens can be obtained at Health Services and sent for processing to an independent diagnostic lab, Lifespan Laboratories at Miriam Hospital.|
|Pharmacy||We can fill most of your prescriptions as long as we have a written or telephone order from your provider, or we can transfer refills from the pharmacy that originally filled the prescription.||401-863-7882
|X-Ray||Basic studies such as chest x-rays and orthopedic studies. All images are initially read by our provider staff and are then sent for a reading by a radiologist. Our contracted radiology group is Rhode Island Medical Imaging (RIMI).||401-863-7782

|Emergency Medical Services
||Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call for emergency medical care in case of sudden illness or injury.||401-863-4111|
|Referrals and Recommendations||Help with referrals and recommendations to local providers such as accupuncture, allergy testing, physical therapy and medical specialists.|
|Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)||Crisis intervention, short-term individual therapy, group therapy, community outreach, and referral services are available in the CAPS office at J.Walter Wilson.||401-863-3476|
