Built in 1837 on Brown's beautiful Main Green, Manning Chapel is a remarkable example of Greco-Revival architecture. Massive Doric columns on its majestic front porch form a beautiful gathering spot in all weather and an elegant setting for photographs. For nearly 175 years, Manning's hospitality has welcomed the breadth of the University's religious and spiritual diversity with its spare interior and huge windows flooding the space with light even on cloudy days. Generations of Brunonians have been drawn back to College Hill to be married on campus in Manning's simple open space which includes a center aisle, pew seating, raised chancel space and both organ and grand piano. With a seating capacity of 200, a remarkable acoustic and classical white interior, the Chapel supports well a variety of ceremony styles.
Located on the second floor of the building, the Chapel is handicapped accessible. Manning Chapel is just a short walk from the Brown Faculty Club and less than a half mile from Providence's marvelous array of downcity hotels, restaurants, and museums creating a lovely home for a Brown destination wedding. The Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life will be able to assist you in planning a ceremony at Manning Chapel.
