Dining Accommodations

Dining accommodations can be approved for students who provide documentation of a medical condition or food allergy. SEAS reviews and maintains dining related documentation and once approved by SEAS, Brown Dining Services provides follow up as required on a case by case basis.

Dining Services does NOT use nut oils or butter in preparing food, but cautions that:

" *All retail locations on campus are considered areas that may contain peanuts, tree nuts and other allergens. Students should use caution when making selections at these locations."

After registering with SEAS and providing documentation and with SEAS approval and referral to Dining Services, students with nut allergies typically navigate the dining halls on their own, checking the ingredients lists for food, to make their own food choices.

Nut-free options are always available.

Dining Services staff can provide ingredients cards for all food upon request.

Students with one of the eight major food allergies (below) may plan for special meals with the assistance of a Dining Services dietitian:

  • Milk
  • Egg
  • Soy
  • Fish
  • Shellfish
  • Peanut
  • Tree nut
  • Wheat

Contact SEAS if you have any questions about dining related accommodations.
