Spring Concert

Spring Concert

One of the more ambitious and pleasant events that the Women and Men of Brown have undertaken has been the sponsorship of their annual spring concert. Since the mid nineties the organization has engaged an outstanding musical group to give an hour’s performance in the John Carter Brown Library. This is followed by an hour-long reception with a buffet that is totally prepared and managed by the members themselves.

The warm, intimate atmosphere of the John Carter Brown Library has an ambiance that is especially conducive to chamber music, and the WMB has succeeded in acquiring a chamber music group of excellence that is renowned not only locally but nationally and even internationally.

The ensuing result has been an occasion for the Providence community, as well as the Brown community to come together under auspicious and pleasurable circumstances that favor congeniality and friendship. It has been anticipated each year with much enthusiasm.

For over twenty years an enthusiastic audience would eagerly anticipate a performance by outstanding musicians at our Spring Concert. The long-standing Concert, which was held most recently at the John Carter Brown Library, had become a celebration and a rite of spring. Proceeds from the Concert helped to fund in part the Resumed Undergraduate Education (RUE) Awards that are presented each year to outstanding students at our Spring Meeting. We are hoping to resume events such as this in the near future.
