SKILLS TO ENHANCE POSITIVITY (STEP)

A three session psychoeducational group for students struggling with depressed or anxious mood. We will discuss the functions of emotions and concrete ways of building sustainable positive emotions in daily life.

A SPACE FOR SENIORS

Preparing to graduate can be exciting but it can also be anxiety producing and sad. This group will discuss the many conflicting pressures and stresses that seniors face as they prepare to leave the University. Members will provide support to each other as they navigate this complicated transition.

BUILD YOUR SOCIAL CONFIDENCE

In this five week group you'll focus on building skills to lessen the anxiety brought on by social situations.

LIFE ON THE HYPHEN

This group is a four part discussion group for Asian-American undergraduate students to explore how bias, different expectations, and cultural conflicts impact family and social relating, self-concept, and emotional health. Group will be facilitated by Asian-American psychotherapists Heather Wong-Bailey and Aleta Bok Johnson.

ADHD/ADD SUPPORT GROUP

This group is cosponsored by SEAS and CAPS. No diagnostic paperwork required to attend.

SUPPORT FOR NON-BINARY, GENDERQUEER, AND TRANS IDENTIFYING STUDENTS

This group is designed to be a safe space to talk, explore, support, challenge, and just be present in your gender identity without having to explain/educate/fear judgment. Often people who are questioning or exploring their gender identity can experience stress, anxiety, isolation - as well as excitement, curiosity, and empowerment. This group will be a place to express yourself at present and to connect with others in the spirit of openness and connection.

DEPRESSION AND BIPOLAR GROUP

In this semester long group you will meet wiht other Brown students who identify with experiencing depressive and bipolar symptoms. This is a compassionate and confidential environment where you can receive support and learn skills to help manage these feelings.

PROCRASTINATION BOOT CAMP!

This quick, two week primer  just before finals is for students who may be suffering from morbid slowness. If you chronically cannot start your projects, papers, or suffer from re-writing, over-researching, ponderous indecision, and crippling doubt, you may want to attend this cognitive-behavioral series to kick you into high gear. Students will be asked to give tactical support to one another between sessions to maximize participants' adherence to strategies. Sessions led by psychotherapist Aleta Bok Johnson.

MEDITATION DROP IN

Simple, guided, mindfulness exercises will be directed by psychotherapist Aleta Bok Johnson. No prior meditation experience is necessary and registration is not required. Mindfulness reduces stress and anxiety, and is beneficial for depression.
