Lean on us
The International Mentoring Program works closely with other departments within Brown University to support the student body.
The Division of Campus Life & Student Services oversees many of the events, services, programs and initiatives that make Brown home from health and wellness to campus community involvement to networks of student support. Campus Life also supports and advises the International Mentoring Program.
The Office of the Dean of the College (DOC) includes deans and program directors who oversee all aspects of the undergraduate academic experience at Brown.
OISSS provides advising services with respect to immigration and visa matters, work permission, orientation, and personal concerns.
IA articulates and implements Brown’s strategy for global engagement, and leads efforts to raise the University’s international visibility. Top scholarship today is found across the globe, and being an international university requires a global curriculum, faculty, and students at home; and collaborations, exchange programs, internships, and partnerships all over the world.
The Writing Center is staffed by graduate students from a variety of academic disciplines. Staff members are experienced writers and teachers who participate in ongoing training in composition and Writing Center theory and practice. The Writing Center collaborates with IMP in preparing workshops during International Orientation and throughout the academic year. In addition to holding one-on-one conferences with an ESL specialist, non-native speakers of English can receive additional writing support through workshops and small group discussions.
OWC oversees General Orientation for incoming first-year students. General Orientation begins the Saturday before the start of classes. General Orientation builds upon the challenges and opportunities introduced during International Orientation, and serves to further smoothen the transition of international students onto Brown's campus.
IMP works closely with the Office of Admission to support international students from the moment they receive their acceptance letter to the time they arrive on campus in the fall.
