Dear incoming student,
We are delighted to welcome you to Brown!
The International Mentoring Program, in coordination with Brown's Division of Campus Life and Student Services, would like to extend a hand to you as you embark on this exciting journey.
At Brown, we believe that international students are an essential part of the academic and co-curricular community.
Below is some information that you might find useful in preparation for your first semester at Brown. We wish you all the best of luck and look forward to meeting you in the fall!
Prior to your arrival
Along with an introductory letter in your welcome packet, you will receive an email from IMP early in the summer, where you will be assigned a summer contact from your general region of the world. Prior to your arrival to Brown, your summer contact can help answer any questions you may have about the student experience at Brown. International Peer Mentors undergo training to best serve incoming students as summer contacts. If they are unable to answer your questions, they can direct you to a resource who can best address you concerns.
International Orientation is a primarily student-run program, which offers incoming international students the opportunity to engage with their peers several days prior to the general first-year orientation. During International Orientation, students explore the academic conventions of the university, discuss topics surrounding student life beyond the classroom, and participate in social events to get to know their fellow classmates.
Registration is open to incoming first-year and transfer students who self-identify as international regardless of citizenship or residency (including the United States). The registration process runs from May 1 through August 1 each year.
For more information, please visit Brown's International Orientation site.
If you have any questions regarding immigration or visas, please contact the Office of International Student and Scholar Services at OISSS@brown.edu.
