Harnessing computational brain science toward real-world solutions
The BRAINSTORM program accelerates the translation of computational brain science to clinical applications and commercialization with the goal of having a lasting impact on the field of mental health. It takes on average 10 to 17 years for scientific discoveries to be turned into real-world applications. BRAINSTORM aims to accelerate this translational gap.
The program is an initiative of the Center for Computational Brain Science in Brown University’s Robert J. and Nancy D. Carney Institute for Brain Science. BRAINSTORM merges the best of both worlds: A strong academic basis for new discovery with the support and infrastructure that is typical in industrial settings, including seed funds, a team of experts, business training and a launching pad for spin-off companies.

We focus on creating the right incentives that promote the translation of research in a pre-startup phase, such as core funding and business training opportunities.
