Centers, Initiatives & Core Facilities

The Carney Institute supports research in four areas of excellence with strong potential for additional growth and continued success: Neurobiology of Cells and Circuits; Cognition and Behavior; Computation in Brain and Mind; Neuroengineering and Neurotechnology. Each builds on Brown’s national and international reputation as home to one of the premier academic institutes for brain science; and each incorporates plans to address societal needs in health and technology. The Institute’s Center for Vision Research spans all of these themes and connects vision science to a broader community including the arts, design, and philosophy.
