Biomedical Engineering, 2019.

Where are you from?

Lexington, MA

What were your academic interests in high school?

I was really serious about math in high school and did not realize how much I liked biology and its integration with math until coming to Brown.

What is your favorite activity outside of the classroom?

I play ultimate frisbee in my free time at Brown as I love to be outside as much as possible!

Why did you decide to pursue research in brain science?

I decided to pursue research in brain sciences because of the relevance it has to all of our lives. I, by far, find the brain the most fascinating part of the body as it is really irreplaceable.

What research project and laboratory did you work in?

I work in Professor Borton's lab, testing how well intracortical local field potentials match hind limb movement in animals.

What have you learned from this experience that you are applying to other aspects of your Brown degree?

I learned a lot about programing and debugging problems on my own. For a lot of my Brown experience, if I couldn't understand something I would just go to office hours. In the lab, even though there is a lot of support, I have much more motivation and time to figure out the problem on my own, which makes me learn more.

What would you like to do after graduating?

I would like to continue to work in the field of neuro-prosthetics, but I am unsure what that will look like.
