What do you do now? Provide a brief description of what you do for a living and what drives you professionally.
I am the Executive Director for the Neuroscience Institute at NYU Langone Health, which means I oversee all the behind-the-scenes work (strategic, administrative, financial, programmatic, etc.) that supports the research and education goals of our institute and its faculty, trainees, and staff. I want to build an academic research environment that nurtures creativity, passion, and excellence; values inclusivity and diversity; and supports professional development at all career stages.
How did your experience at Brown (in the lab, in the classroom, and in the Brown community) prepare you for what you do today?
In addition to deepening my appreciation for a wide range of questions in neuroscience, at Brown I gained all sorts of essential skills - time and project management, troubleshooting, written and spoken communication, formal and informal networking, working with others, etc. My most important experiences revealed the power of collaborative teams and our ability to change the status quo for the better, which continues to be how I achieve my goals.
