Omar Galárraga

Omar Galárraga Ph.D., serves as director of the health services research doctoral program at Brown University. He is an associate professor of health services policy and practice at the Brown University School of Public Health. Trained in health economics, his research focuses on:

  1. incentives for behavioral change,
  2. evaluation of health systems reform,
  3. rigorous quasi-experimental approaches to estimate effects of health interventions; and
  4. microsimulation and economic evaluation of public health programs. He has worked on sexual and reproductive health research projects in various countries (including Mexico, Ecuador, the US, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa); and has published more than 130 articles in health services research, health economics and public health journals.
