While the headquarters of the Division of Applied Mathematics will remain in 182 George Street, the new building provides a second home for faculty, staff, and students who are currently housed along Manning Walkway within the planned development area for the School of Engineering. The new three story, 13,000 gsf building is located at the corner of George Street and Hope Street. The two buildings will share a common green space and garden court. The building includes office and meeting space for approximately 75 faculty, staff and students. Ground floor spaces include a 30 person meeting room as well as a 15-20 person meeting room and administrative offices. The upper two levels are office spaces gathered around central interactive eddy space.

Brown is working jointly with the design teams for Applied Mathematics and the School of Engineering to develop the block level plan for both projects, focusing on programmatic and environmental goals. To ensure our environmental goals are met, the two projects share the same Sustainability Consultant and Landscape Architect.

The project is designed to achieve a LEED Gold rating from the USGBC.
