The Computer Aided Design (CAD) Office is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate information for all of Brown University's facilities. Our facilities include land holdings, buildings, infrastructure and other physical property.

The CAD staff supports the University by producing building floor plans and campus maps, creating presentation graphics, tracking space utilization for Indirect Cost Recovery, as well as generating custom output used in analysis and planning. Field work, such as utility mark-outs, data collection, and as-built verification, is also performed. These efforts support ongoing University planning, design, and construction activity.

CAD files are maintained using the latest version of AutoCAD from Autodesk Inc. All map files are geo-referenced on the R.I. State Plane Coordinate System. A survey control network is utilized to ensure all field work aligns with University map files.
