Director, Howard Foundation

Joseph Meisel is the Joukowsky Family University Librarian and Adjunct Associate Professor of History at Brown University.  Previously, he served as Brown's Deputy Provost.  Before coming to Brown, he was Program Officer for Research Universities and Humanistic Scholarship at The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, where he was centrally engaged in developing and managing fellowships and other programs to support scholars at all career stages.  He holds AB and PhD degrees in history from Columbia University, and is the author or co-author of three books and numerous articles on the political culture of modern Britain.
