Ruhul Abid, BangladeshRuhul Abid, BangladeshCongratulations to Ruhul Abid, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Surgery and Brown Global Health Initiative faculty member has been nominated for a 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.  His leadership and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of disadvantaged and displaced in Bangladesh through health and education is an inspiration.

Dr. Abid and HAEFA, the non-profit he founded and directs, provide health screening, health care and education to the most underserved and hard-to-reach populations in Bangladesh, including garment factory workers, rickshaw pullers, and Rohingya refugees.  

Over the last several years several Brown undergraduates, medical students and residents have traveled to Bangladesh and the Rohingya camps in Cox Bazaar to volunteer and conduct research under Dr. Abid’s mentorship.
