Brown University's "Year of China"

Academic Year 2011 - 2012, Brown University
The Year of China explored the rich culture, economy, and politics of Greater China, investigating its past, examining its present, and contemplating its future. Throughout the 2011-2012 academic year, Brown hosted public lectures, cultural events, academic conferences, and exhibits in an integrated exploration of China.

Scholarly Exchange

June 10-16, 2010, Hosted by Brown University
In June of 2010, a delegation of scholars from Nanjing University visited Brown University to collaborate with Brown faculty and students. On June 12th, the Nanjing faculty participated in a symposium, "Modern China from Socio-economic and Transcultural Perspectives," with faculty from Brown, Yale, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Cornell. The visit coincided with the annual meeting at Brown University of the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes and the Brown International Advanced Research Institute on Global Humanities.

Journal of Gender Theory and Culture Published

The inaugural issue has been published in Chinese by Nanjing University Press. The issue features papers from the Symposium on Feminist Theory and Gender Studies (June 24-25, 2008)
