The Brown University Alcohol Research Center on HIV (ARCH) has received another five years of funding of over $6 million from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (grant P01AA019072). Over the past 10 years, the ARCH has studied the deleterious impact of alcohol misuse on HIV prevention and the HIV care continuum. The next segment of funding will support studies on (a) using a web-based app to reduce alcohol use among gay and bisexual men completing home-based HIV testing, (b) using telehealth counseling to address alcohol misuse in people receiving HIV care in federally qualified health centers around the U.S., and (c) training lay counselors to address alcohol misuse in HIV care settings in South Africa. The Principal Investigator of the ARCH is Christopher Kahler, Professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences in the Brown University School of Public Health. Other Brown University investigators on the ARCH include Peter Monti (Deputy Director of the ARCH), Tyler Wray, Tao Liu, Caroline Kuo, Sara Becker, Mollie Monnig, Mark Celio, Stavroula Chrysanthopoulou, and Rani Elwy.
