Dr. Jennifer Tidey was the Discussant in the CPDD Presidential Symposium

Dr. Jennifer Tidey was the Discussant in the CPDD Presidential Symposium, entitled Impact of Tobacco Use on Substance Use Disorders: Mechanism to Epidemiology.

Dr. Merrill received a new grant award from NIAAA, and presented at the 2019 Kettil Bruun Society

Dr. Jennifer Merrill received a 5-year, 3 million dollar R01 award from NIAAA, titled "High-Intensity Drinking and Alcohol-Induced Blackouts among Young Adult Drinkers: An Event-level Analysis."

Dr. Merrill also presented a talk titled "The Influence of Rate versus Level of Alcohol Consumption on Alcohol-related Consequences Assessed in Daily Life" at the 2019 Kettil Bruun Society meeting in Utrecht, Netherlands, in June. This work was co-authored by postdoctoral fellow Ryan Carpenter.

Drs. Damaris Rohsenow, Rosemarie Martin, and Jennifer Tidey presented data on "Smokers with Opioid Use Disorder May Have Worse Drug Use Outcomes after Varenicline than Nicotine Replacement" at the College on Problems in Drug Dependence.

Dr. Kristina Jackson presented new data from a NIDA-funded study on Alcohol and Marijuana

Dr. Kristina Jackson presented new data from a NIDA-funded study in her talk "Real-world simultaneous alcohol and marijuana use: An ecological study of motives and social context" at the Research Society on Alcoholism in Minneapolis, MN.

Rosemarie Martin was invited to speak at the National Governor's Association (NGA)

Dr. Rosemarie Martin was an invited content expert at the National Governor’s Association (NGA) Southeast Regional Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) workshop. Through a partnership with American Correctional Association National Governor’s & the CDC, the NGA brought 5 states to the table to discuss Access to MAT for the Justice Involved Populations. Governor of Louisiana, John Bel Edwards, took the time out to speak about the critical topic of MAT for the Justice Involved Population.

 

Hayley Treloar Padovano

Dr. Hayley Treloar Padovano served on two editorial boards for 2019 and presented at the Research Society on Alcoholism.

Dr. Hayley Trealoar Padovano was invited to serve on two editorial boards for 2019: Psychology of Addictive Behaviors and Experimental and Clinical Psychopharmacology. Dr. Treloar Padovano discussed and presented data on how drinking milestones (e.g., sipping, first full drink, first heavy drinking) influence the development of expectations for positive and negative outcomes of drinking.

Dr. Jennifer Merril is the keynote speaker for the Kettil Bruun Society

Dr. Jennifer Merrill was invited by the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction to serve as a keynote speaker for the Kettil Bruun Society’s Thematic Meeting on Campus-based Interventions, which will be held in Sherbrooke, Canada, September 30–October 2, 2019. Dr. Molly Magill was recently awarded an Independent Scientist Award (K02) from NIAAA

Dr. Molly Magill was recently awarded an Independent Scientist Award (K02) from NIAAA. This award provides 5 years of training and support to transition the PI toward a mid-career focus on Implementation Science and Common Factors of Behavior Change. The project will target social work education as the first venue for a novel training approach based on trans-theoretical and trans-behavioral principles that can be integrated into existing practice methods.
