Biography

Monica Serrano-Gonzalez, MD is a pediatric endocrinologist at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown. She has had a longstanding interest in addressing and preventing childhood obesity and is co-director of the Insulin Resistance Clinic at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. She is a member of the IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network (ISPCTN) Obesity working group. Dr. Serrano-Gonzalez is passionate about implementing evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic interventions and she is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) and the ACLM adolescent and pediatrics interest group. She is a lecturer at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown and has more than twenty peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. Dr. Serrano-Gonzalez is the Junior Investigator for Hasbro Children’s Hospital as part of a National Institute of Health Environmental Childhood Health Outcomes (ECHO) ISPCTN award and she is interested in developing interventions for prevention and treatment of childhood obesity that combine mindfulness and mobile health technologies.
