Brown Chemistry Department Diversity and Inclusion Action Committee (DIAC)
The Brown Chemistry Department DIAC was established to foster a diverse and inclusive environment within the Chemistry Department. We have established the Chemistry Department Distinguished Women in Science colloquium series, conducted the department graduate student climate survey, hosted a number of diverse speakers, including one from the OXIDE Collaboration, initiated an Orientation Week diversity training for incoming students, and hold monthly general body meetings to address concerns within the department. We plan upon conducting a climate survey of the undergraduate Chemistry population Fall 2017.
I have been chairing the Chemistry DIAC since Fall 2016 with the help of many forward-thinking and ambitious graduate students and faculty colleagues! More information about the Brown University Chemistry Department Diversity and Inclusion Action Committee may be found off of its webpage on the Chemistry Department website. Please feel free to attend one of our monthly meetings (lunch is served) in the near future!
