The Sports Injury Laboratory is a collaborative research lab in the Department of Orthopaedics at Lifespan and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, in affiliation with University Orthopedics. Our research focuses on epidemiological and translational investigations into sport-related injuries in athletic populations. Our goals are to:

  • Identify sports-related injuries in high-risk populations and determine risk factors for injury
  • Study mechanisms of injury to provide insight into future prevention methods
  • Study patient outcomes after surgical intervention to manage return to sport
  • Optimize return to sport in athletes following injury

Our faculty members are experts in clinical sports medicine.

Dr. Brett Owens focuses on shoulder instability, ACL tears, meniscus tears, and cartilage injuries.

Dr. Ramin Tabaddor covers conditions of the hip and knee in athletes.
