Jea Yun Sim was awarded the 2017 Elizabeth Leduc Prize in Cell and Molecular Biology. Awards are given to students who have distinguished themselves in the various aspects of their academic work, including coursework, academic performance, and research. The late Professor Leduc was a distinguished scholar in the field of cell biology. She taught cell and tissue biology at Brown University for many years, and also served as a Dean of Biology. Undergraduate alumni Marielena Gamboa Castro '15 and Mehrdad Kiani '15 were awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowships to support their research-based graduate studies. Marielena is a Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech, and Mehrdad is a Ph.D. candidate in Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford. Congratulations!
